Environmental threats affect our lives.

I would like to talk about the environmental threats that affect our lives. The terms “climate change”, “global warming” and “green house gas emission” are popular words in the news these days, and every government in the world should tackle these problems hand in hand.

Because of global warming, the temperature is going up, and ice caps are melting, so natural disasters more frequently occur than before, whose damages are worse and worse. In some areas, drought conditions provide a substantial increase in the forest fire risk, and the existence of living creatures is under threat. Flooding and Forest fires cause the loss of animal lives and damages to their property. Soil damage is also serious, because when organic material in the soil deteriorates, erosion happens. Social infrastructure doesn’t function properly as a result.

Fossil fuels, including coal, crude oil and natural gas pollute the environment, where extreme accidents, such as pipeline leaks and discharging millions of gallons of oil into the ocean have occurred over the years. When coal and oil burn, they release carbon dioxide that causes the greenhouse effect and increases global warming. In relation to these, air pollution is also a bad factor for people’s health, especially, causing breathing problems. It also contributes to acid rain. Acid rain affects the fresh water supply. Human beings, animals and plants depend on water, so acid rain damages our habitat, and ultimately, living creatures may become extinct.

In my opinion, all those threats are caused by human activity, so we have to take the responsibility, and we have to act right now, because the measures to prevent future disasters take time until things are improved. All those acts are for the people in the future. We have been living generation by generation, and the Earth has existed for about 4 billion years, and since civilisation, dated back more than 4,000 years ago, human beings have been developed in a miraculous way in the universe, we should appreciate this luck, and the preservation of this planet is our entire responsibility.

My idea about tolerance

Japanese business start-up consultant

I really like the quotation from Helen Keller that “the highest result of education is tolerance”. Based on my family structure, my father was a company employee, and my mother is a housewife, so I thought I would be the same when I became old enough. After my graduation from college, I was working for the bank, but my job description was a receptionist, secretary and office worker. While I was working there, I had never thought about how society worked and what my role was under the business environment. I little guessed that I would become an independent sole practitioner as a lawyer.

Now I do much administrative paperwork, give legal advice and plan a business strategy for a client. One of my friends told me the other day that she was about to leave her job. The way she would do is to hand a resignation letter to her employer, but in reality, she couldn’t stand the pressure of the pressure of her workplace relationship. She started her current position two years ago, since then; I thought she was happy to be there as the job was set up by her and her employer. Their business relationship was an employee and employer, but their original relationship had arisen from their friendship, so I was very surprised when she said to me she was about to leave. In the light of human relationship, it might be a likely scenario in our everyday life, and all of us have a different point of view, ideas and history.

As a lawyer, I always try to compose my legal advice by taking account of those differences, and I feel sympathy and empathy to others as much as possible, but it is impossible to understand 100% someone’s idea, as I cannot physically see their inner thoughts. All I can do is to try to understand their feelings from their words. Some people have high verbal communication skills, but not all of us do, so misunderstandings are likely to occur, as there are different thoughts and interpretations behind their words. It is also very difficult to tolerate different ideas.

I always believe that sympathy and empathy should also include responsibility and duty of care, especially to resolve a problem. Nobody is perfect. Open-mindedness is essential, and we should accept different views.

Strategy for the healthy society

Japanese business start-up consultant

The Tokyo 2020 Olympics is still surrounded by the controversy. Even though Japan is not a country, which suffers the most of the coronavirus pandemic, with fewer deaths and lower infectious rate, the country is still under a state of emergency.

Under this circumstance, everybody might be bored, frustrated or lonely. The government has a responsibility to the nation to organise a strategy for the healthy society. To do so, people in the country should physically and mentally fit, and exercise has an important role to play. In view of this, the government can set a subsidy option for the company to educate adults.

In a broader sense, the subsidy gives companies an incentive for education for their employees. Individuals have a different point of view, but education is an opportunity to think about any activity for everyone, so it is the most important thing. Every company has different rules, but if those companies set their own programmes, they deserve a certain amount of subsidy, as creating a new rule costs time and money for the workforce.

Based on the above argument, companies should take the initiative to run their programme, because if there is no action taken, it would become meaningless. I shall consider an option of exercise time at work, including work from home because that is the most cost effective way and there are many forms of exercise, such as walking and running, which are basically free of charge. Ultimately, the healthy workforce leads to the benefit for employers, as positive people generally have enough motivation to work.

What the government can do is to plan a whole scheme as it cannot give a direct order to a company or an individual. Letting companies work for this purpose will achieve a great organisational development, which is the real meaning of the evolution for a country.

Typical schools in Japan and suggestions to improve the system

Japanese business start-up consultant
  1. Average for all

In terms of typical schools in Japan, raising children up an average is the most remarkable point. Children in Japan are generally obedient, and they are not encouraged to express their opinion individually especially toward teachers. Children quietly sit in their classroom, and listen carefully to teachers, so it is also an advantage for teaches to run a school. Thanks to their system, almost all children can achieve the certain amount of knowledge and literacy, and the dropout rates from schools are quite low. Japanese education is one of the most successful in the world.

2. Suggestions of its improvement

In general, advantages hold disadvantages, too. Because of the obedience of pupils, they tend to be reluctant to give their individual opinion, and fail to think their own idea in their brain. Because of the lack of good arguments with others, many Japanese adults just follow rules in society, which creates a highly hierarchical system. I would like to suggest that children, especially young adults, should have classes of discussion, debate and negotiation. When they repeat this training, they can develop their individuality, and find out pros and cons of the system.

3. Conclusion

By observing the current strengths and drawbacks, we can evolve a better society, which succeeds in a fair and impartial culture. Ultimately, it generates new techniques, and that is the evolution for human beings. Children are future adults and all of them should take part in it.
